There are many, many drama schools out there, but a qualification from an accredited drama school will give an actor a strong advantage over the untrained actors at those dreaded auditions. A list of all 22 members of the Conference of Drama Schools can be found online. Of course, there are alternative routes into the acting profession but the "It just happened" experience is a very rare one indeed. If you sit around waiting for that golden opportunity to present itself to you, you may as well not even consider becoming an actor. This profession is less about luck and more about hard work. Drama Schools are traditionally very demanding in workload but once graduated, that experience may well prove to be priceless.
